Just like that, another year has flown by! National CooperativeRx hosted its 2019 Annual Meeting earlier this month, marking 15 years of providing our members best-in-class customer service and access to high-quality, cost-effective prescription drugs and services.
Larry Richardson, Board Chair, began the morning by welcoming the largest Annual Meeting audience in history and introducing our Board members.
Josh Bindl, CEO, followed by emphasizing the Cooperative’s membership growth and performance highlights. Mr. Bindl introduced Wayne Salverda, Senior Director of Clinical Services, to discuss strategies National CooperativeRx employs to protect members’ dollars. Mr. Salverda also focused on new drugs coming down the pipeline and their financial effects. He concluded with predictions for changes on the pharmaceutical horizon.
Sarah Emond, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) opened her speech with the question, “Do we really need to choose between affordability and access?” The short answer was no. Ms. Emond received 100 percent Excellent marks in our meeting survey, with attendees raving about how informational her presentation was.
Following Ms. Emond was Dr. Jonathan Darrow from Harvard Medical School, who lectured on market trends contributing to high pharmaceutical prices and reforms that could increase drug competition and improve information available to consumers.
The meeting ended with closing remarks and networking over lunch.
