Please join us in welcoming our newest Cooperative Board representative!
Heather Hormel, Senior Director of Human Resources at United Regional Health Care System (United Regional), was appointed to the National CooperativeRx Board of Directors at our Annual Meeting on May 11.
Located in Wichita Falls, Texas, United Regional provides comprehensive medical care including inpatient and outpatient services, advanced diagnostics, surgical specialties, and life-saving emergency care to a nine-county service area. Its passion is to provide excellence in health care for the communities it serves.
Heather was recently promoted to the role of senior director of human resources in March of 2022 after 13 years with the organization as the director of compensation and benefits. During her time at United Regional, Heather has successfully managed a robust benefits, wellness, and compensation program for over 2,300 employees, achieving above-benchmark employee engagement scores, and implemented various software systems to enhance the organization’s administrative and reporting capabilities.
“I am eager to bring my many years of experience in the benefits industry and hospital setting to the National CooperativeRx Board,” Heather says. “Although I have an extensive background in health care, the pharmacy benefit management industry has incredibly complex nuances, and I can’t wait to begin peeling back the onion, so to speak.”
Heather has over 20 years of experience in key benefits and compensation development positions. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from West Texas A&M University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Western Governors University.
“To achieve maximum success, it is imperative for the Cooperative’s Board of Directors and staff to be in sync,” states National CooperativeRx CEO Josh Bindl. “Ms. Hormel is an engaging individual who will provide great oversight over setting and achieving our goals. Her experience as a human resources leader for a health care organization will further diversify the perspective of our Board of Directors.”
In her spare time, Heather enjoys gardening, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. She was also very excited to try cheese curds for the first time when she made the trek to Madison, Wisconsin for our Annual Meeting!
We are grateful for Heather’s impressive background and are excited to see what she will accomplish during her tenure as a Cooperative Board member.
The Cooperative’s goals are always aligned with those of our members, as we are member-owned and member-governed.
