Please join us in welcoming our newest Cooperative Board representative!
Dr. Melina Kambitsi, senior vice president of business development and strategic marketing at The Alliance, was appointed to the National CooperativeRx Board of Directors earlier this month. Dr. Kambitsi will replace Paul Meyer from The Alliance, who stepped down after 19 years on our Board, as he prepares for retirement. As a founding member of National CooperativeRx, The Alliance has an automatic seat on our Board of Directors.
Dr. Kambitsi has over 15 years of experience in strategic health care marketing and holds a bachelor’s in international studies and a master’s and doctorate degree in geographic information systems from The Ohio State University.
“Having worked closely with my counterparts at National CooperativeRx, I know we share the same great mission of delivering high-quality, affordable health care to our employers and the markets we serve,” says Dr. Kambitsi.
Josh Bindl, CEO of National CooperativeRx, states the feeling is mutual: “We hold The Alliance in high regard, not only because they helped found National CooperativeRx, but because of our common structure and mission. It’s always tough to lose the institutional knowledge of Paul Meyer, but Dr. Melina Kambitsi is uniquely qualified to thrive in the role. We are grateful for the perspective and deep commitment she will bring to the Cooperative.”
Dr. Kambitsi is eager to dive in and help elevate our Board to new heights. “I look forward to spending time with National CooperativeRx’s talented executives and helping set strategy to better serve employers. My goal is to evangelize the mission of our great organizations, spread the message, and help recruit more employers to the Cooperative. I am passionate about our mission, and I feel privileged to work with employers that understand their fiduciary responsibility and serve their organizations by finding better ways to control the cost of health care.”
When she isn’t busy transforming the health care industry, Dr. Kambitsi loves spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking, the theater, swimming, pilates, yoga, and traveling. She and her husband hail from Greece, so they most enjoy visiting their birthplace, as well as the American and British Virgin Islands.
The Alliance moves health care forward by controlling costs, improving quality, and engaging individuals in their health. Employers are the second largest purchaser of health care in the country, yet typically have little contribution to the constantly rising price or quality. However, by self-funding and banding together to leverage their purchasing power, employers can control more of their costs and demand better care for their dollar together. The Alliance has been creating clarity in health care for over 30 years by providing transparent, creative approaches to network and benefit plan design to unlock savings where others can’t – or won’t – using Smarter NetworksSM and sophisticated data mining and analysis.
The Cooperative’s goals are always aligned with those of our members, as we are member-owned and member-governed.
