We want to congratulate our senior director of clinical services, Wayne Salverda, on an incredible 10 years with National CooperativeRx! Wayne was hired in December of 2009 as our first on-staff clinician, coming to us with extensive experience in pharmacy, including retail, managed care and pharmacy benefit management sectors.
The ability to drive and influence greater industry change is one of the reasons Wayne joined National CooperativeRx. “It’s great to see programs and services National CooperativeRx develops and offers for its members being seen elsewhere in the market; imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” says Wayne. “The trust and responsibility members place with National CooperativeRx is not taken lightly. Working and advocating on their behalf is the core of everything our expert staff does. Time flies when you’re having fun and even faster when it’s for a worthy cause and when one gets to work with exceptional colleagues, members, brokers and consultants on a daily basis.”
Wayne’s work focuses on analyzing industry trends and forecasting their potential impact on members’ pharmacy benefit plans, as well as recommending strategies to maximize plan savings. Recently, he embarked on reviewing high-dollar prescription drug claims to identify and remove fraud, waste and abuse. These efforts have helped save National CooperativeRx members millions of dollars and allows them a competitive edge in the market since they can direct those savings to retaining and obtaining work force talent, technology enhancements and other areas.
“Wayne is one of a kind,” remarks CEO Josh Bindl. “His dedication and commitment to the Cooperative mission and members is at the highest level. I am pleased to have worked so closely with him since my start at the organization and hope to celebrate many more of his longevity milestones in the future.”
Deb Thomsen, Vice President of Coalition and Development, echoes that sentiment. “I had the pleasure of recruiting and working with Wayne for his entire time at National CooperativeRx,” says Deb. “He truly is an excellent clinical resource to both members and staff and has an extremely high work ethic.”
Congratulations on your 10-year anniversary, Wayne! The Cooperative is lucky to have you.
